Danza: Ella poema/She poems
Casa África supports the presence of Aïda in different African festivals such as the Hifa of Zimbabwe, where she danced the solo Prelude.
Aïda now returns to Africa with this new work, ELLA POEMA/ SHE POEMS, which we can enjoy in two stages: the first from 21th to 30th May and a second from 23rd to 27th June, after having been presented at Ambassador of Tanzania's house during the celebration of Spanish Culture Day in 2013.
ELLA POEMA is a tribute to African women through dance and literature in Spanish. The result are a short-films of contemporary dances, "video poems" whose protagonists are African female artists.
Aïda started this project with the intention of building an "African poetic map", which aims to highlight the beauty of African women and allow them to display their work inside and outside their borders.
Now the project comes to Dakar with support from Casa África and the Embassy of Spain in Senegal. ELLA POEMA in Dakar will be undertaken in two stages:
-From 21th to 30th May there will be an audition to select the participating women and the proposed literary texts and choreographic concept will be worked on.
-From 23rd to 27th June the investigation of movement will be worked on together with video-recordings of the poems.
Part of the edition will take place in Dakar, and other post-production part will take place in Madrid. The result will be two short films - video poems - that will be distributed at international festivals and events along with others carried out in other African countries, in order to start building an African poetic map in Dance.
