Casa África se suma a los actos del Día Internacional de la Lucha contra el VIH-SIDA
Casa África and the University of Santiago de Compostela collaborate in the International Day for the Fight Against HIV-AIDS in the presentation of El Camino de Muzu (Muzu´s Path), an awareness campaign with direct testimonials of people infected with HIV that is aimed especially at young people.
On December 1st at 12:00 pm, the Communication Sciences Faculty of the university in Galicia (Avenida de Castelao s/n, Campus Norte) will be transformed into the setting in which the activist Carlos Cordero will encourage students to test themselves for HIV, increasing awareness on the need to always remain alert against being infected with the disease.
Created by the Cultural Association El Despertar de los Demás (The Awakening of Others) and with the participation of the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation), the campaign titled El camino de Muzu (Muzu´s Path) also includes showings of El camino de Muzuzangabo, a documentary directed by Sergi Agustí.
The awareness campaign consists in having volunteers who are infected with the virus to be tested for HIV so everyone may see that, although they seem healthy, they could be a carrier. They will also speak with the young people about the importance of being aware about prevention in the fight against this virus.
