Casa África en Masdanza 2013
Casa África and its programme Africa in Movement continue supporting contemporary African dance through different performances. This time, it will support the presence of companies from this continent which have been chosen to take part in the 2013 edition of the Masdanza Festival, as well as their later journey through the other islands, in the form of artistic residences, once the festival has finished.
Africa in Movement is a programme that was created when the 1st Africa-Spain Choreography Meeting was held; a professional meeting that took place in January 2010 in La Gomera (Canary Islands), in order to set up contacts between professionals in this area, to start up a series of creative residences of African artists in Spanish Choreography Centres.
Casa África once again collaborates with the Department of Culture of the Town Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and its invitation to the 18th INTERNATIONAL MASDANZA FESTIVAL FOR CONTEMPORARY DANCE IN THE CANARY ISLANDS, which will be held from the 23rd October to 9th November 2013 in Maspalomas - Gran Canaria - Canary Islands - Spain.
Under this framework, the Choreography Competition and Soloist Competition will be undertaken, each one with its own prizes and competition rules that can be consulted at the end of this text. The reception of the suggestions will close on 15th June 2013.
The participation will be open to creators of any nationality. They will be able to participate with original works or those created and launched as from the 1st January 2011. The duration of the work CANNOT be less then TEN minutes NOR exceed FIFTEEN. In the case of the choreography competition, the pieces should have at least TWO (2) dancers and a maximum of FIVE (5).
