África Vive 2016
Casa África, with Binter as official sponsor, invites citizens to participate once again in África Vive, a celebration that takes place during the weeks around Africa Day, which commemorates the creation of the African Union on 25 May.
África Vive is an initiative created by Casa África with the aim of using this celebration as an opportunity to get to know us better and to bring African and Spanish citizens together in an entertaining and participatory context.
With África Vive, Casa África aims to improve knowledge in our country of the neighbouring continent with a series of cultural, political, economic and social activities which aim to encourage debate about the continent and its people, showing Africa from a positive, optimistic perspective which differs from the prejudices and stereotypes that have been linked to Africa for too long.
The 2016 África Vive programme takes place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Madrid. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, activities culminate in a big open air party for everyone which will take place on 3 and 4 June in the capital's Santa Catalina Park.
As in previous years, the Madrid programme includes the meeting of the Diplomatic Council of Casa África, where the African ambassadors accredited in our country will receive Casa África’s 2015 report of activities and learn of the actions planned for 2016-2017. In addition, the African ambassadors will be able to visit the exhibition Gentu Ndaw that has been installed at the headquarters of Casa Árabe in Madrid for the duration of this meeting.
